THE METAL MORPH METHOD

FOUND. WELDED. TRANSFORMED.

Every Metal Morph piece begins with something that already had a life before it reached my workshop.

Reclaimed steel. Vintage metal pieces. Forgotten hardware. Unexpected finds with shape, texture, and character.

I cut, combine, weld, and transform them into something entirely new.

No molds. No duplicates. No mass production.

Every sculpture is built by hand, one at a time, and made to stand apart.

MEET DORIS

Doris Plaichner, artist and founder of Metal Morph Sculpture, after a day of welding in her Mesa Arizona workshopBorn and raised in Austria, I spent years working as a television journalist before moving to the U.S. fifteen years ago.

Since then, I've lived in Chicago, the Bay Area, and now Mesa, Arizona, where I create Metal Morph in my own workshop.

I'm also a mom of two boys—and lucky to have a very supportive husband who has learned that almost any rusty piece of metal might eventually come home with me.

This is me after eight straight hours of welding—my idea of a pretty perfect day.
